Homemade Almond Milk

We have now entered the age where plant based milks are becoming more popular.  You see grocery stores filled with a huge variety of options such as almond, cashew, and coconut milks. You will even find that your favorite coffee shop offers a plant based milk option.


While it's exciting to have so many options you still want to keep an eye on the ingredients. A lot of these commercially produced plant based milks have added sugar and thickeners that aren't too good on your digestive system. One ingredient particular that you want to avoid is carrageenan.. 


With that being said I recommend making your own. The benefit is that 1. it tastes better, 2. you can control the ingredients. 


Now I understand you won't always want to make your own plant based milk so I want to share with you a few of my personal favorites:

Homemade Almond Milk




2 Cups of  Raw Organic Almonds

6 cups of water

1 Tsp Vanilla

2 Tbs Maple Syrup



1.Put almonds in a container, fill with water until fully covered and soak overnight in the refrigerator.


2. The next day, drain and rinse the almonds.


3. Add the almonds along with the rest of the ingredients listed above to your high powered blender and blend until nice and smooth.


4. Use a fine mesh sieve to strain and put your milk in a glass pitcher.



5. Store refrigerated for up to 4 days.
