MY STORY

    Hi my name is Tyra, and here's my story.

 Out of nowhere about 5 years ago I started suffering from debilitating migraines. 

Being Raised in a family of Chiropractors, I was taught at an early age that you don't treat the symptom you find the root cause. So when my neurologist told me that I would probably have migraines for the rest of my life or at least until I go through menopause, I just couldn't understand how that could be possible. I was determined to be set free from this terrible condition. I really didn't have a choice. I had a husband and two kids that I had to live for.

    Fast forward 3 years in, I was really sick. To the point the medicine wouldn't even abort the migraines. I had tried multiple prescription medications, acupuncture, Chiropractic adjustments, massage, essential oils, magnesium, heck I even drank a glass of Himalayan pink sea salt once.. it was awful and it didn't work. 

    Then one day I was attending a new women's group for church. When we  all gathered to ask for prayer requests I asked them to pray for me because I was struggling each week with my health condition. A few days later I received a text from one of the ladies who was a Registered Dietitian/ Personal Trainer. She said "I can help you", and that's when my journey to wellness began. 

    It was a 2 year journey that changed my life. I had to re-learn how to cook and eat. That was tough, especially for me a Culinary Arts Grad who loved cooking with white flour and heavy cream. But I didn't let that stop me. I did it on my time, at my own pace, listening to my body. Oh, and I discovered one of my main migraine triggers along the way.. eggs. Who woulda thought. As of June 2017 I no longer get migraines on a weekly basis. I still get the occasional migraine if I accidentally eat something with egg, or overindulge in processed foods, or am under a lot of stress. But overall I’m doing great! I went from 1-2 debilitating migraines a week to maybe 1 very mild one every  3 months, if even that. 

    So my purpose for this page is to share some of my favorite recipes and snacks. My hope is that it will encourage you to get in the kitchen and cook a nutritious meal.
